Epic Food Battle - Taste of Local Delights

This game was the first official game development experience that I had in my career but it was surprisingly smooth and educating. Working in a rather big team (1 designer, 3 artist and 4 programmer) was rather challenging for me as a rookie designer as it was my first time trying to understand my duty and working together with other student game developers.

I personally think that it took me a long time to re-adapt my mindset from developing a digital game to a board game as they feels completely different from each other and required distinct skill set to develop. In my opinion, the two toughest part were to design a core gameplay that are easy to learn but take times and effort to improve, and figure a way to pace the game so that player have time to learn the basic and it will get increasingly difficult overtime to keep the gameplay interesting. During this project, I am able to develop the following skills:

- Design a complete and balanced cooperative board game

- Research on local food recipes

- Writing trendy comedy content (Mainly Internet Phenomenon and Global Political)

- Construct a proper comprehensive game manual

It was certainly a fresh and spicy first taste of what game designing have to offer, the technical aspect of how to balance the game by controlling the number and ratios of card and tile based on the player number was re-purpose for my future video games while the idea and significance of play testing stuck with me and was continuously utilised throughout my game development career to improve the player experience
