Hungry Gaming - Fresh and Robust

Play Egg.png

I developed the game for one of my design subject - Game Genre Study for 1 month, I design and programmed the game using Stencyl while using edited art asset from the internet as place holder. Besides developing the game, I was also conducting play test session and writing blog every week to record down the development journey.

Since I am making the game alone in a short period of time, I scoped the game based on my previous experience and quickly sort out all the information needed and compiled them into a centralised document. I separated all the features into 3 priority category and build the game accordingly so that the game can be played as a complete game every week. During this project, I am able to develop the following skills:

- Discover and apply the bare minimum of a shoot em up game

- Making a rough playable prototype in Stencyl that can be use to test out game concept

- Minor digital imaging and editing

- Construct centralised document for small size team

- Conduct player experience test session and extract necessary information

Making a short term small scale prototype was a fun experience as I am able to developed and improved my game every week based on player's feedback and observed their reaction to judge does the changes work. This rapid but effective method allow me to pinpoint any flaw in my game quickly and test out my solution immediately. The comment that I received give me the confident that adding fresh twist into a basic gameplay is a sustainable concept to turn a fresh concept into a brand new game.
