Mechaman - Redefining Cooperative Multiplayer

main menu.png

I developed this game in my first student group project which lasted around 3 months, I was being assigned randomly to a team that consist of 9 members (1 Designer, 2 Artist and 6 Programmer). It was also the first time where I have to lead a mid size game development team, this experience expanded my horizon and show me the importance of man managementproper scheduling and job scoping.

My role for this project was the sole game designer and team leader, my task involves coming out with the overall design, documentation and team management. During this project, I am able to develop the following skills:

- Study and understand the core and essential of the fighting and local multiplayer genre
- Research, identify and replicate the overall aesthetic of the super sentai genre

- Identify and craft the necessary design and management document for the team

- Basic and practical user interface design

- Basic colour theory

- Basic Unity user interface layout

- Preparing a press kit and website for the game

I am delighted that my first long term team based project have rewarded me with the opportunity to develop a local multiplayer cooperative game with a basic but unique mechanic. Besides, discovering the impact of how enemy AI's attack move sets would affect how players behave (interact, communicate and cooperate) are also a fascinating experience.
